Free Japanese talking dictionary download



We know that the size of those files are rather large but we canīt make them any smaller and still include Japanese voice etc. We are working on a new version, to be released later this year together with some other new programs.
We have also made a talking japanese web browser. You can test the web version here.
To make it work you do need the same speech module as the dictionary. japspeech download (9.7 Mb)

We are also working on an new on-line chat with full capability to write kanji, kana etc without any third party tools. It is almost ready for release so we hope to have it up soon.

To use this software you need to download three zip files, unzip them and install them using this instruction:

- Download all three files and place them on your hard disk.
- Unzip the zip file named: japspeech.zip
- Install all the unziped files.
- Unzip the font from japfont. If you have a Japanese Unicode font you do not need this. This is Microsofts font for japanese text support in Internet Explorer.
- Install the font if needed from "Start\settings\Control panel\fonts" in Windows.
- Unzip the file named: japlex.zip. When unziping the install process will beging.

It is important that you do it in just this order and nothing else!

Run the program. When you start the program the might be a error saying out for memory etc. If you have any sort of error message, you have a OCX file with a bug. This is a known error and it comes with one very good OCX from Microsoft. To correct this you only have to download a bug fix from Microsoft and run that file. This will update you OXS file and the software will work. The OCX is used to show Japanese characters. Download bug fix (658 Kb)

This is a stripped version. If you choose this version you do not need the japspeech file.
